Back to Work

Scene: an unheated bedroom
Time: 5:00 AM
Outside temperature: 13°F

The alarm goes off. A half-awake old lady gets out of bed to hit the snooze button on the clock across the room. Br-r-r! She hurriedly hits the snooze button and rushes back to the warm cocoon of her bed.

Sleeping in a cool/cold bedroom is one of the best parts of winter. I sleep so much better when the room is cool. And it is so nice to snuggle back into the warm bed. But tonight I will probably be kicking off the covers since it's only going down to the mid 40s. It is supposed to be in the upper 60s tomorrow. I want winter back.

I guess it is really good that it will be warmer tonight. It won't be so hard to get out of the bed in the morning. I have to go back to work tomorrow. I worked one day last week, but this will be a full week. It will be hard to get myself going. I have really been enjoying my time off.

I've always envied teachers their time off at Christmas and in the summer, my two favorite times of year. I know it has to be hard to go back to work. And you are absolutely right about sleeping in a cold bedroom. I love lots of covers and a cold room. I remember as a child having a bedroom with only a fireplace for heat. Needless to say, my mother didn't get up in the morning and light a fire in my bedroom and if I wanted to get warm I had to go into the other rooms. But, oh, how wonderfully I slept.

I hope you really enjoyed your time off.
